Deep blue currents, cell-laced and gold-veined. I built one canvas to hang vertical or horizontal; pick the orientation your wall wants.
In Azure Descent I layered cobalt, navy, and ultramarine into a fluid composition with bright cell-lacing and metallic gold veining running through the field. The cells form organic, lace-like patterns where the colors meet, while the gold catches light at varying angles to add warmth against the cool blues.
I built the painting on a single 18"x24" canvas designed to read in either orientation. Hung horizontally it reads as a tidal landscape, with the gold tracing a current line through the field. Hung vertically it reads as a descent, water moving downward through layered depth.
I finished it in high gloss to bring the color forward and let the metallic accents shift with the light throughout the day.
