I drove a single band of blue across the dark on a hard diagonal. Everything cool and in motion, held against everything still.
I built Blue Shift around one current of blue driven across a matte black field, a diagonal sweep that runs corner to corner and refuses to slow down. I let cobalt, navy, and deep teal carry the weight while turquoise and aqua flare along the leading edge, and where the paint pulled thin a fine lace of white and silver cellular detail broke across the surface. I left the dark ground almost entirely open on either side, so the movement reads as a shift in progress, a moment of a longer motion caught mid-drift. At 24"x36" the diagonal gives the color room to accelerate, and I painted the 1.5" gallery-wrapped edges to continue the current around the sides, so it needs no frame to feel finished.
