I cut gold through cobalt. Cell-lacing fans out from the seam. A narrow vertical I built for spaces that need a tall anchor without taking the room.

In Gilded Rift I ran metallic gold vertically through layered cobalt and navy, with cell-lacing rippling out from the central seam. The gold reads as a single continuous vein down the canvas, bright when light hits it, deeper when it doesn't, and the surrounding blues shift between mid-cobalt and saturated navy where the cells form. At 10"x20", the format is narrow and tall, and I built it for spaces where a square or wider canvas would feel wrong: hallway runs, panels flanking a doorway, or narrow wall sections between windows. I finished it in high gloss to bring the metallic gold forward and add dimension under directional light.

Why this piece works in a space

  • Narrow vertical format fits hallways, doorways, and wall sections too tight for standard canvas sizes
  • Cobalt and gold pair cleanly with modern minimalist and warm transitional rooms
  • Strong vertical movement makes a small piece feel like a real anchor, not a filler

Best for: Shelves, Gallery wall groupings, Desks, Reading nooks, Healthcare spaces

Gilded Rift in Jonena's home

My Gilded Rift painting hangs on my bathroom wall right where it can brighten my day each morning and bring a smile at the end of my day. I love the burst of colors and the feeling of flowing, movement.
