Mercury doesn't pour. It scatters. I caught the moment before it pulled itself back together.

In Mercury Drift I worked entirely in metal and shadow. I radiated a central vortex of liquid silver outward across a deep charcoal field, with white highlights cracking through the surface where the motion broke. I used no accent color here; the metallic silver is the entire palette, paired only with black, graphite, and bone white. The result reads more like a photograph of molten metal than a painting. The 22"x28" format gives the composition room to breathe without crossing into oversized territory. Light is the second medium: the silver shifts dramatically with the room, appearing nearly white at some angles and gunmetal at others. Hung opposite a window or near directional lighting, the surface stays in motion all day. This is a monochrome statement piece for collectors who want presence without color commitment.
